“take part in art“© Workshop
at GETRAG Operations Managers’ Conference
June 28/29, 2012
Untergruppenbach
“rootedness and change“
measures: Earth-Cube: 100 × 100 × 100 cm
Earth-Posts: 100 × 40 × 40 cm
material: steel, stainless steel, glass, transparencies, paper, various types of soil
GETRAG’s worldwide expansion and its origins and base are symbolically presented in the artworks “Earth-Cube“ and “Earth-Posts“.
A blend of different soils, gathered by workshop participants at GETRAG Operations’ various sites, is the ‚working earth‘ in the artworks that make concepts such as continuity and change, diversity, cultural differences and vital openness to the process of change visible.
Extracts of concepts that have been developed during the management meeting were written on paper and transparencies and then added to the ‚working earth‘.
Those written on paper will change significantly. Those written on transparencies will remain unaltered against the background of continuous change.
Your reflection in the glass surface includes you in the process and raises questions about your own rootedness as well as your attitude to and your handling of the process of change.
Hermann J Kassel
In June of 2012, the senior management team of GETRAG Operations came together to reflect on the many changes being implemented in the company – organizational changes, process changes, IT enhancements, integration, cooperation with new colleagues and also new customers from around the world.
The purpose of this workshop was to give all participants a fresh perspective on how such high levels of workload and change are affecting us all and how we can manage and implement these changes more effectively for all concerned – which is in the end every single employee at GETRAG. The content of this workshop was deliberately structured to encourage slowing down and thinking differently but also to generate a lasting impression – not only for those who participated but also for all those who take part in GETRAG´s continuous change.
This workshop was facilitated by Hermann J Kassel who combines creativity and reflection through expression in art and sculpture.
The artworks that we created as part of this process will be distributed to GETRAG Operations’ sites later this year.
